Summary Thanksgiving

In september 1620, 102 people left Plymouth, England on a ship called The Mayflower.Sailed across the Atlantic and landed in whats now called Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA. It took them nine and a half week to get there.
The people were called The Pilgrim Fathers. They had had a bad time in England because of their religion. Wanted to start a new life, far away.
In the winter many of them died. Then there were only 54 of them left, most of them children.
Met some indians called the Wampanoeg. Became friends and Indians taught them how to grow crops and catch birds, especially turkeys.

In the autumn 1621 the Pilgrims had their first Thanksgiving party with the Indians. They ate food they had grown, and wild turkey. They had a lot to be thankful for. They had not been killed and had not died of hunger. They had a home and they survived.
