Christine
Personality: Christine is a very calm and relaxed woman and she has a good sense of humor. She is very nice to the people who are nice to her, but if someone treats her the wrong way she will not accept it. She is also very strong and stands up for what is right.
Looks: Christine is dark-skinned, has long brown hair, but she usually wears it in a pony and she is skinny.
Life story/ racism and prejudice in her life: Christine is married to a guy named Cameron, he is also dark-skinned and they probably share almost the same life story.
Christines life story is very characterized by her skin color so since she is dark-skinned racism has haunted her for all of her life. She must have gone through a lot of situations where her skin color put her in uncomfortable situations and in a lot of problems. Since she has been treated so bad a lot of times she is quite used to it and does not let it go by easily. So she argues with everyone who treats her bad because of her skin-color.
What she learned through the film: Through the film Christine learned that the fight of her human rights are not always in order and that her life as and not white woman is extremely hard compared to a white woman. This she learned when an officer investigated her excessively much, in private areas when she and her husband got pulled over by police, though they had done nothing wrong. When the officer did this she got very upset, sad and most of all angry with her husband who did not defend her.
She also learned that some of the people who are extremely racist might only be to make themselves feel better, just like some bullies do. This is the case of the officer who laid his hands on Christine without actual permission. He did so because Christine and her husband was dark-skinned and he wanted to show his power as a cop. Later when Christine was in a bad car accident the same police officer found her and pulled her out of the car, which saved her life. This was because the officer felt guilt for what he previously had done and now he wanted to make it up to her. That showed that he actually had some sympathy and compassion. This did not mean she completely forgave him, and it did not mean he was not racist at all.
Thought about Christine: I think Christine is a very clever and nice person. I also like the fact that she is so confident, even though she haas been put through so much, and has the guts to stand up for whats right in situations where a lot of people would not.
